Decision Making

         On the last weeks, we got back our midterm results, there are half of our class were fail on this exam.  Most of the part we fail was essay. Therefore, the professor wanted to give us a chance to change this midterm results. He gives to us whole class time to vote, which way is better for us to improve our grades. And vote for what type of format we wanted on our next exam. After that professor set on the side, and let us to make the decision what we going to do. Two people come up for our term leader.  One is writing down the detail and other one just collect people ideas. Everyone call out of they own idea, disappoint some people idea, and so on. Even thought, some people really had a "compete to win" behavior, they want to their idea to win this class decision. Since the professor makes curve for our exam, but the grade are still lower. So, we wanted extra credit or to drop the lowest grade. Moreover, the decision of the format for the next exam was a lot bit chaos people spoke up around the class room. Some people wanted to keep the essay part or even more essay and short answers part, some wanted to get rid of it, some wanted only to have true and false and multiple- multiple choice questions, and so on.  Some people didn't talk at all, and I was one of them. I had a rather accommodating behavior. On my situation, I very want to change the exam format. There is not essay on the exam because I didn’t have enough time to finish. Finally, in the end of class we get our decision done. The decision was made that we would all receive a curve, an optional extra credit assignment, and a drop of the lowest test grade (between the 1st and 2nd) to help our 1st exam grades. The other decision, regarding the exam format, was that we would keep the current format, but with the essay being of extra credit on the exam. Therefore, we succeeded in this class decision, and make our way to processor.

Egg Planning

       We had a class activity on egg planning to learn planning process. In our class, no group’s win this planning. But I think our group was doing pretty well to protector the egg. First of all, we defining what had to be done. And we came up different ideas to protector egg, than will prevent the egg from cracking. Very group’s had 8 straws and 2 feet of paper tape. Since we had limit materials, so we need to very careful to use it. The main point was to reduce the distance from the egg to the floor, let the egg won’t break.

      Secondly, we draw the picture step by step to build up the protection of egg. And design where should have more protection of the egg. So, that could help us to save time because we had only 10 minute to make it. We finished on time but the thing didn’t look nice, and we might miss some point of the planning process that made us could meet the goal.

      Finally, I think my group did not spend too time to develop alternative strategies, and we agree with the strategy to have the shortest person to drop the egg. But in the end, we still have the higher person to drop the egg. I think we were weak spent too much time on the design, therefore, we couldn’t process other steps.

      I believe that the egg planning was very good activity for us. That could help us to work and share our ideas together. It will let us get experience and do well in the future.
